“KNOW THY ENEMY…the grand illusionist”
…Least you, as well will fall prey to deceiving spirits.
Part I
Are demons fallen angels? Are principalities, powers and rulers in the same order in the heavenly realms? What are the children of God really up against on this plain, this…first heaven? At times spiritual warfare for many is like being in a dark room swinging at the air while the enemy sits and smile watching us aimlessly trying to defend ourselves and those around us with no idea of what we’re fighting against. To wage war against what we cannot see, we must understand first what we’re fighting against and the correct way of warfare. Amen. We have allowed ourselves to become deceived by these “spirits of deception” as Believers giving them more power than they deserve; Thinking sub-consciously that an angel have the strength of 1000 men and to engage one as an “fallen angel/demon”, oh God no! Which… unfortunately puts fear into the child of God to stand and face something like that…I know I was afraid of the mere thought for a very long time and secular movies i.e, “The Exorcist” didn’t help, only promoted more fear of them, right? So instead we feel inferior to their presence and just leave them alone, when we as children of God have been given authority and a commission to cast out demons, heal the sick, and set captives free. Amen. Haven’t you ever wondered when and where did these spirits come from that possessed all these people in the New Testament during the time of our Lord? On the other hand I can see where we could be deceived when it was only Satan and his angels that fell, to automatically feel the demons are angels. Or when our Lord asked…”Tell me your name. For it is “Legion”, for we are many.” I don’t think many angels could possess a person, influence and hinder prayers, but let’s see…“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12. “In heavenly places”…principalities, rulers, powers, spiritual forces and world forces of darkness, these are fallen angels that have rank and position throughout the heavenly realm; Daniel 10:13; But the prince of the kingdom of Persia [fallen angel] withstood me [Gabriel] one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes [Archangel], came to help me; and I remained there with the (kings) of Persia, [fallen angels with ruler-ship]. The verses also show that, through prayers, angels are sent to and from heaven with answers to prayers but are sometimes intercepted by principalities and powers. Principalities and powers are evil spirits who function in the heavenly realms and are in direct conflict with angels. Principalities and powers are the angels who were deposed along with Lucifer and we combat against them through pray. “What is bond on earth shall be bound in heaven, what you lose on earth is also loosen in heaven…we bind them in the name of Jesus, through prayer. Our Lord said beginning at Luke 10:18; And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; Mark 16:17-18a NKJ It is apparent that Jesus makes a distinction between these categories of evil spirits. He is talking about casting out one [demons] and taking up [praying against] the other [principalities, and powers]. He gives us the simplicity of dealing with principalities, powers and demons in this verse alone: we cast out demons, but we take up the battle against principalities and powers by prayer in order to displace them. Believe it or not, [recently discovered] after further research demons are the spirits of the giants that perished during the flood account of Noah. Those that were born of angels [Watchers] and women; Evil spirits shall they be upon earth, and the spirits of the wicked shall they be called. The habitation of the spirits of heaven shall be in heaven, but upon earth shall be the habitation of terrestrial spirits, who are born on earth. 1 Enoch 15:8. The spirits of the giants shall be like clouds [Nephilims] which shall oppress, corrupt, fall, content, and bruise the earth. They shall cause lamentation. No food shall they eat; and they shall be thirsty; they shall be concealed [invisible as spirits], and shall rise up against the sons of men and against women, for they come forth during the days of slaughter and destruction.1 Enoch 15:9-10 Jubilees 5:2 and 3 summarizes both Genesis 6 and 1 Enoch 15. And they [the women] bore children for them; [the Watchers] and they were giants. Now the giants, who have been born of spirit and of flesh, shall be called upon earth evil spirits, and on earth shall be their habitation. Demons need bodies to survive and do their deeds. They are by nature “spirits of lust”, doing all things in excess. “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house[the body of that person] whence I came out.” Luke 11:24. Therefore, stay watchful and know who you’re up against and allow faith to rise up within you through our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Now that they have been brought down to size, don’t allow fear to paralyze the God given authority you have been given to stand and fight, cast out and bind, besides knowing is half the battle, Amen. I pray that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob watch over, protect, and keep you under the shadow of His wings that no unseen hurt, harm or danger should come near the post of your homes. God bless and remember…know thy enemy.
The book of Enoch gives a complete history of the beginning of the species that we now call “demons.” It is directly quoted in Jude 14 (the parallel reference is found in 1 Enoch 1:9) and Peter references it in 2 Peter 2:4 in dealing with angels in Tartarus (1 Enoch 10:4-17). The book of Enoch has been the subject of much discussion. There are many more details about demons that we can learn from other scriptures, but the most relevant details about them and the key to tracing their origin comes from Luke 11:24. In this scripture, Jesus makes reference to truths found in the book of Enoch. They [evil spirits] shall cause lamentation. No food shall they eat; and they shall be thirsty; they shall be concealed, and shall rise up against the sons of men, and against women for they come forth during the days of slaughter and destruction. 1 Enoch 15:10. This reference “to being thirsty” or “walking in dry places” by the Lord Jesus Christ is also recorded in Matthew 12:43. This shows the rest that demons seek—the rest of being in a body. When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Matthew 12:43 NKJ
